Abstract
PURPOSE: To secure and smooth stop operation by using an electromagnetic brake for the damping of control and a mechanical brake for stopping a tape, by stopping the tape by controlling its running speed at a constant speed by using a predetermined tape running position.
CONSTITUTION: This unit is equipped with counter 18 that displays a tape running position on display device 20 and the method, composed of counter 18 and FFs 21 and 22, etc., that detects the difference between the display value of the counter and a value at a stop position, e.g. [0000], reaching a predetermined value, e.g. the 1st value [0009] and the 2nd value [0029]; when the method detects the difference reaching the predetermined value, the speed of the tape running is reduced and when the value at the stop value, the tape running is stopped. For the damping of deceleration control over the tape running speed the electromagnetic brake is used, and for the stopping of the run the mechanical brake such as a band brake. Thus, the stop operation of the tape can be made securer and smoother.
