Abstract

The turret system (10) includes an elevation drive extending vertically upward from central interior portions of a lightweight military vehicle, for controlling elevation of a large weapon (14). The drive has a vertically movable shaft (66) connected to a yoke (64) by a ball and socket joint (68). - The yoke supports a gun cradle (60) which is offset from trunnions, with the weapon being pivotal in elevation about the horizontal trunnions (62). The yoke rotates with the weapon during azimuth positioning. The elevation drive is activated from the gunner's seat. The cradle is connected to a rotating azimuth control disc (76).
