Abstract
The invention is based on a drive for electric rail locomotives, in which a drive motor lying longitudinally between two drive axles, especially a motor with output on two sides, drives the drive axles by way of angular gear mechanism, which are each supported with their housing on the associated drive axle or enclosing hollow shaft and on the other hand are fixed to the drive motor. At the same time by combining bearing points the motor/gear assemblies are combined, a double motor known in the art with common housing, common inner end plate and mechanically and electrically separate rotors being used as drive motor. In addition bevel gears of the angular gear mechanisms rigidly connected without clutch direct to the rotor shafts are provided, the outer bearings of the rotor shafts are designed as fixed bearings and the bearings of the rotor shafts are provided in the inner end plate as movable bearings for a thermal expansion compensation. According to the invention the double motor (1) is now held so as to be dividable for maintenance purposes on a level with the inner end plate (15) transversely through the motor housing (8) and the inner end plate (15), the mutual centring and fixing of the part motors (2 and 3) being performed by way of the inner end plate (15).
