Abstract

EP--65812 A A Ni alloy is claimed comprising, at room temp. less than 25 vol.% gamma-prime precipitate consists of (by wt.); 23-37% Cr, trace to 1.7% C, 0.3-4% Pt and/or 0.3-8% Ru, trace to 1.5% Ti and/or trace to 1.5% Al, balance Ni. - The alloy pref. also contains one or more of the following (by wt.): 2-8% W, 2-6% Ta, trace to 6% Mo, trace to 3% Nb, 0.05-15% Fe. 0.05-2% V, trace to 0.10% Co, trace to 2% Mn, trace to 1.0% Si, trace to 0.5% Mg, trace to 0.5% Ca, trace - 0.3% B, trace to 0.6% Zr and trace to 0.5% each of Hf, Y, Sc and/or rare earths and/or their oxides. - The alloy has a good combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance and is esp. useful in apparatus handling molten glass. It is particularly suitable for prodn. of centrifugal spinners for making glass fibres. EPAB- EP--65812 B A Ni alloy is claimed comprising, at room temp. less than 25 vol.% gamma-prime precipitate consists of (by wt.); 23-37% Cr, trace to 1.7% C, 0.3-4% Pt and/or 0.3-8% Ru, trace to 1.5% Ti and/or trace to 1.5% Al, balance Ni. - The alloy pref. also contains one or more of the following (by wt.): 2-8% W, 2-6% Ta, trace to 6% Mo, trace to 3% Nb, 0.05-15% Fe. 0.05-2% V, trace to 0.10% Co, trace to 2% Mn, trace to 1.0% Si, trace to 0.5% Mg, trace to 0.5% Ca, trace - 0.3% B, trace to 0.6% Zr and trace to 0.5% each of Hf, Y, Sc and/or rare earths and/or their oxides. - The alloy has a good combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance and is esp. useful in apparatus handling molten glass. It is particularly suitable for prodn. of centrifugal spinners for making glass fibres. (17pp) USAB- US4662920 A Cast Ni alloy partic. for use in centrifugal spinners for making glass fibre, has an austenitic matrix and contains (wt.%) 23-37 Cr, trace- 1.7 C, 0.3-0.4 Pt and/or 0.3-0.8 Ru, with a trace - 1.5 Ti and trace-1.0 Al, balance Ni. The alloy contains less than 5 vol.% gamma dash ppt. at room temp. It is pref. that precious metal component of the alloy consists of 0.3-1.7 Pt and 2-8 Ru, ratio of Ru:Pt pref. being 12:1-3:1, partic. 7:1 to 3:1. Pref. Ti content is a 0.3-1.5 and pref. Al content is 0.1-1. Alloy can also contain trace - 1 of Si.
