CONSISTE EN LA REACCION DE ETILENO CON CLORURO DE HIDROGENO Y GASES INERTES QUE CONTIENEN OXIGENO A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 180<025>C Y 300<025)C, ASI COMO CON CLORO EN FASE GASEOSA, EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR SOLIDO QUE CONTIENE SALES DE COBRE O DE COBRE Y DE HIERRO. AMBAS REACCIONES SE REALIZAN SUCESIVAMENTE EN UN RECINTO COMUN QUE CONTIENE PARTICULAS FLUIDIFICADAS DE CATALIZADOR, EL 40-98% DE ETILENO REACCIONA SEGUN LA PRIMERA REACCION DE CLORACION, Y EL 60-2% RESTANTE LO HACE SEGUN LA SEGUNDA REACCION DE CLORACION. ESTE COMPUESTO TIENE APLICACIONES COMO PRODUCTO INTERMEDIO PARA LA FABRICACION DE CLORURO DE POLIVINILO.
