Abstract
The method is used for tubes having portions of different thickness, the OD changing accordingly. It uses a mandrel (2) having a cylindrical body with sloping surfaces front and rear. This is used with a drawing ring (1) with internal surfaces (3,4) of different dia. tubes. The mandrel can be pulled through the ring either backwards or forwards. The largest dia. of the mandrel, increased by the final thickness of the finished tube approx. equals the ID (3) of the drawing ring at its smaller inside regions. The smallest ID of the drawing ring is larger than the largest OD of the mandrel, and is increased by twice the final min. thickness of the tube, but smaller than the ID of the outlet section of the drawing ring.
