SE HACE REACCIONAR A TEMPERATURA 230-300GC, DURANTE 0,5-5 HORAS, BIOXIDO DE CARBONO Y UNA MEZCLA HOMOGENEA LIQUIDA CONTENIENDO UNA SAL DE METAL ALCALINO DE BETANAFTOL, BETA-NAFTOL Y ALQUILBENCENO, DE FORMULA (I), DONDE RN ES UN GRUPO ALQUILO. BAJO REFRIGERACION SE AÑADE A LA MEZCLA AGUA Y UN DISOLVENTE DE EXTRACCION. SE AJUSTA EL PH POR ADICION DE UN ACIDO MINERAL. LA MEZCLA SE SEPARA EN UNA CAPA ACUOSA QUE CONTIENE UNA SAL DEL ACIDO Y OTRA CAPA ORGANICA.
