Abstract

A process for the direct, automatic production of inner books made of printed sheets, wherein each printed sheet (1) is transported by a sheet feeder to a folding machine and is folded with a parallel fold, preferably with fold edges arranged transversely to the conveying direction, subsequently the thus folded sheet (3) is cut longitudinally to form sections with cut edges lying parallel to the conveying direction, a stream of sections, preferably an interflow stream (8), is formed from the cut sections (6), the streams of sections (7) are spread in the manner of a delta corresponding to the screen size of an accumulating device, preferably a gathering machine or a gathering-stitching device, the sections of the streams of sections are received by the accumulating device, are conveyed transversely in a manner known per se and accumulated to form the inner book blank, and subsequently the blanks are stitched or bound in a manner known per se to form the inner book or the like.
