Abstract

The static converter compensates for any asymmetry or imbalance in commutation. The commutating capacitor (C3) is located between the thyristors (T3, T4) in the commutating circuit and the thyristors (T1, T2) and their antiparallel diodes (D1, D2) in the load circuit. An attenuating circuit is connected between the commutating capacitor and the commutating circuit and is supplied with the positive and negative d.c. supply voltage via diodes (D3, D4). The attenuating circuit comprises resistors (R1, R2) in series with the diodes (D3, D4). Various configurations for this attenuating circuit are described.
