Abstract
Un método para desalar agua del mar y similares para producir potable, que comprende: proporcionar un elemento de membrana con una entrada y una salida y que tiene una sección transversal de flujo con una relación de anchura a altura mayor que cincuenta, establecer un, flujo de alimentación a una presión superior a la presión osmótica a un lado del elemento de membrana, cuyo flujo de alimentación es de un caudal menor que el suficiente para mantener la velocidad de flujo mínima de diseño en la sección transversal del flujo de la membrana, hacer recircular una parte del concentrado desde la salida a la entrada del elemento de membrana a una presión superior a la presión osmótica y superior a la presión del flujo de alimentación con un caudal suficiente para hacer que la velocidad del flujo en la superficie de la membrana sea superior a la velocidad de flujo mínima de diseño.
