Abstract
A method of removing deposits from heat transfer surfaces of recuperator furnaces consists of cooling the deposits to produce thermal stresses, which lead to cracking and falling off of the deposit. In one variant, gas is used for the cooling operation. More specifically, compressed air at low pressure is supplied by the combustion air blower for the furnace. In another variant, liq. is used for the cooling operation. Used esp. for heat recovery furnaces wheere liquids used in wood processing are burnt in order to recover both heat and chemicals.
