Abstract

Un método para preparar un poliéster no gelificado que es adecuado para empleo como aglutinante resinoso en composiciones de revestimiento, formándose dicho poliéster haciendo reaccionar a una temperatura de hasta 250ºC:(A) 10 a 70% en peso de un componente de hidrógeno activo bifuncional que tiene dos hidrógenos activos por molécula, seleccionado de la clase que consiste en grupos hidroxilo, amina primaria y amina secundaria, comprendiendo dicho componente de hidrógeno activo: (1) 10 a 60% en peso de un diol acíclico que tiene una relación de carbono a oxígeno de al menos 2, (2) hasta 60% en peso de un diol cíclico, (3) hasta 20% en peso de un compuesto seleccionado de la clase que consiste en diaminas y aminas que contienen hidroxilo con, (B) 25 a 85% en peso de un componente de ácido dicarboxílico que comprende: (1) 5 a 85% en peso de un ácido dicarboxílico acíclico que contienen de 2 a 36 átomos de carbono, (2) hasta 80% en peso de un ácido dicarboxílico cíclico; (C) hasta 30% en peso de un componente de hidrógeno activo que tiene al menos 3 hidrógenos activos por molécula, seleccionándose los hidrógenos activos de la clase que consiste en hidroxilo, amina primaria, amina secundaria y ácidos carboxílicos, y (D) hasta 20% en peso de un ácido monoaminomonocarboxílico; estando los porcentajes en peso basados en el peso total de (A), (B), (C) y (D); ajustándose los porcentajes de los reaccionantes de tal modo que los porcentajes en peso de los restos cíclicos en dicho poliéster más los porcentajes en peso de los restos de amida formados en dicho poliéster multiplicado por cuatro da un valor de como máximo de 35 y los porcentajes en peso de los reaccionantes se ajustan adicionalmente de tal modo que estos reaccionantes contienen de aproximadamente 0,01 a 1,0 gramos mol de reaccionantes, que tienen una funcionalidad de 3 o más por cada 500 gramos de reaccionantes; siendo realizada la reacción de poliesterificación inicialmente a una velocidad relativamente rápida hasta un puntocorto de gelificación; disminuyéndose luego la velocidad de reacción y realizándose la reacción de poliesterificación a una velocidad más baja hasta que se obtiene un poliéster con un peso molecular dentro del intervalo de 20.000 a 300.000 según se determina. por cromatografía de permeación de gel, empleando un poliestireno patrón, y un índice de hidroxilo de 10 a 160.
