Abstract
A plant for opening and cleaning waste paper includes a vessel for receiving a suspension previously pulped. In the vessel a rotor is movable along a screen behind which there is an outlet for the treated fibres. The plant is provided with an outlet for impurities which are easily sepd. and an outlet for impurities which are sepd. with difficulty. Connected to this latter opening there is a sepg. machine having a motor driven rotor which sets up centrifugal action. The rotor acts also as a pump and propels the liq. suspension out of the separator through a duct connected to the inlet of the opener. Provides an opener and separator from which the impurities sepd. with difficulty are ejected continuously or intermittently by a series of automatic bursts. The minimal requirements of power and the least possible wear are involved and the heavy impurities are sepd. independently of the pressure prevailing in the opener.
