Se describen síntesis totales eficientes de (+)-picropodofilona y (+)-4''-demetilpicropodofilona. Dichos compuestos son intermedios en la preparación de agentes antineoplásicos conocidos. Esta invención se refiere a la preparación de lactonas de lignano de podofilina y lactonas de lignano de 4''demetilpodofilina. Más específicamente, esta invención se refiere a síntesis totales nuevas y eficientes de (+)-picropodofilona (I) (+)-4''-demetilpicropodofilona (II).
