Abstract
Procedimiento para preparar zeolita A, a partir de un mineral del grupo de la candita, caracterizado porque comprende las etapas: a) calcinar un mineral del grupo de la candita que está sustancialmente libre de agregados y que prácticamente no tiene asociado con el mismo ningún hierro superficial n9i más de 0,5 % en peso de hierro intersticial, efectuándose la calcinación a una temperatura del orden de 550 a 925ºC y durante un tiempo tal que la pérdida tras ignición durante 2 horas a 1.000ºC de una muestra del mineral calcinado sea inferior a 1 % en peso, para formar un mineral de candita calcinado; b) preparar una mezcla acuosa del mineral de candita calcinado y una solución acuosa de hidróxido sódico de concentración no inferior a 5 M aproximadamente, es decir no inferior a 5 molar aproximadamente, siendo tales las proporciones de mineral de candita calcinado e hidróxido sódico en la mezcla acuosa que la relación molar Na2O/SiO2 sea del orden de 0,5 a 1,5; c) calentar la mezcla acuosa a una temperatura de 60 a 100ºC durante un tiempo de 2 a 8 horas, para formar la zeolita A deseada; y d) separar zeolita A cristalina de la mezcla acuosa.
