Abstract

The capsule comprises a hallow, cylindrical body with one open end which is fitted with a closure cap. The internal surface of the cap is bonded to the body by a viscous sealing cpd. The cpd. can be applied to the interior of the cap and/or the exterior of the body before the two are assembled. Alternatively the cap can be fitted to the body and the sealing cpd. only then applied, via a hole in the cap, to an annular zone of the cap immediately adjacent to the top edge of the body. Application of sealing cpd. can be made before or after the cap is pushed fully home on to the body. The sealing cpd. can be material of the cap or body itself softened by localised heating where sealing is required. Used as a hard-shelled, cylindrical capsule o contains a viscous material, esp. a liq. pharmaceutical compound. A completely leak-proof capsule can be filled without difficulty on the premises of the pharmaceutical mfr.
