Abstract

A security device for immobilising a vehicle in the event of reduced oil pressure, high water temperature or theft, the device including an electro- magnetically operable fuel line valve 1 for shutting off the fuel supply to the vehicle engine (or alternatively a switch for breaking the engine ignition circuit), and a relay 2 for controlling the valve 1, one terminal of the relay coil 12 being directly connected to the battery positive 8 and its other terminal being connected to the battery negative 9 via a key operated contact 3 and to the engine pressurestat 6 and thermostat 7, whereby when contact 3 is closed or when the oil pressure is too low or the water temperature is too high, the relay coil 12 is energised to open its contact 10 and deactivate the valve 1 which then shuts off the fuel supply.
