Abstract
In a loom with weft selected from fixed supply packages according to program, a mechanism for releasing and laying the weft thread into the inserter controls the position of the thread in the feeder and the position of the feeder in the feeder guide. In the immovable section of the feeder is a channel through which the weft passes to run through a recess and across the contact surface for the thread. The movable section of the feeder has a wedge which clamps the thread in the recess. When the feeder is closed, a spring-loaded brake assembled in the moving section also presses the thread against the contact surface. Behind the feeder guide in the direction of the shed, is a fixed guide, adjustable on the frame which ensures the correct clamping of the thread in the feeder, and the alignment of the thread for the shear. At the opposite end of the movable section of the feeder to the thread contacting surface, is an adjustable ring to alter the stroke of the feeder opening lever. The positioning mechanism for the selection of the feeders includes a plate with grooves corresp. in number to the number of weft ends to be selected according to program. Each groove is aligned to the plane of insertion of the weft and is engaged by the point of a spring-loaded safety peg. The operation of the loom is not restricted by bulky threads and the weft is handled gently and without friction.
