Abstract

Procedimiento para la preparación de ácido tereftálico mediante la reacción de tereftalato dipotásico con ácido benzoico, caracterizado porque en su realización se efectúan sucesivamente las siguientes operaciones: a) inicialmente se hace reaccionar poniendo en contacto ambos componente, tereftalato dipotásico con ácido benzoico en un medio acuoso que contiene benzoato potásico a una temperatura superior a 80ºC, encontrándose los diversos componentes introducidos de manera que se tenga, para cada kf de agua, 0,05 a 1,2 moles de benzoato potásico, menos de 0,4 moles de tereftalato dipotásico y la relación molar entre ácido benzoico y tereftalado dipotásico esté comprendida entre 4 y 12. b) Se separa el ácido tereftálico de sus aguas madres por cualquier medio conocido y a una temperatura superior a los 80ºC. c) Se somete el ácido tereftálico a un tratamiento de purificación.
