Abstract

Tear-off cover for cans and similar containers has a tear-off section non-separably joined with the cover. The tear-off section is defined by a groove line interrupted at one side. Attached to the tear off section by a rivet or other means is a grip flap for breaking in the groove line and thereby exposing an opening esp. a pouring opening. The grip flat is fitted with a nose shaped projection for breaking in the groove line and for forcing the tear-off section in the inside of the container. Rigidly attached to the grip flat (3) and the tear-off section (5) or to the cover surface (1) is a holder part which limits the pivoting movement of the grip flap (3) to a predetermined angle in relation to the tear-off section (5).
