Abstract

The stamping press has a movable head and a cutter for use with flat sheet material. A photo-electric control system senses the position of the cutter and automatically holds the press sliding block in the precise position for operation. The press is esp. for leather materials. The stamping press has a horizontal moving slide block (13) with a shaped cutter (15) placed on a flat sheet of material (16) on the table (14) ready to be stamped out. The block (13) moves along the beam (12) to align with the cutter (15). At the back of the press a light source (22) is fixed on a carriage (29) which moves on a horizontal track (30) attached to a clamp arrangement (26) for the material (16). The carriage and block are guided by an arm (23) which moves the carriage along the track but also permits relative vertical movement.
