1339067 Cutting-out presses BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [16 March 1970] 23743/71 Heading B4B A cutting press comprises a lower platen 1 providing a work surface on which material to be cut and a superposed cutting die can be positioned, an upper platen (not shown), means for effecting relative movement of approach between the platens in order to effect a cutting stroke of the press, a support table 8 mounted for movement across the front of the press, and means 17, 19 responsive to movement of the operator across the front of the press, for effecting movement of the support table thereacross also. The table 8 is mounted on a carriage 7 slidable, via roller bearings 5, 6, on a guide rod 2. The table is additionally supported by means of stay 16 and arm 11 on which a roller 12 is mounted the latter being adapted to run on a rail 13. A pair of members 17, 19 are secured to the carriage so that when an operator stands between them and moves back and forth across the front of the lower platen during successive cutting operations, the table 8 moves with him, thereby enabling him to place each cut-out portion easily on the table.
