Abstract

The leaf valve or diaphragm valve is fixed into a bushing, and has a valve seat (18) obliquely between inlet (14) and outlet (16). The valve cap (24) is screwed (22) into the valve housing (12) and sealed by an extra welded seam (26) to prevent fluid leaking out. The base of the spindle (28) has a pair of grooves (32) containing rods (34) which also fit into grooves (36) in the cap (24). The rod and groove set-up prevents rotation of the spindle (28), and prevent torsion forces from being transmitted to the spring plate (38). There is a spring (48) jammed against a ledge (52), and pressing the valve spindle in the open direction. Rotation of the handle causes the valve spindle to press against the valve stopper.
