Abstract

Apparatus for the automatic counter-balancing of the ram 3 and upper part of the tool of a press uses compressed air cylinders 19. If imbalance occurs after a tool is changed, a lever 1 pivotally mounted at 2 on the ram 3 actuates a control member 5 or 6 which results in the actuation of an outlet or inlet valve 8 or 7. The pressure prevailing in the compressed air cylinders 19 is increased or reduced by the outlet and inlet valves until balancing is achieved. A servo motor 24 with a gear unit 25 and contact pressure gauge 26 are interposed between the control members 5 and 6 and the outlet and inlet valves 8 and 7. <IMAGE>
