Abstract
Improvements introduced in the object of the main patent No. 413,956, granted on May 21, 1975, for: "A device for measuring the longitudinal force in a rail", according to which a vibrating wire extensometer comprises at least one wire that is it diametrically extends and is clamped at its ends to a ring and an electromagnetic coil arrangement to set the wire in vibration and then detect the frequency of vibration of the wire, and the electromagnetic coil arrangement comprises an annular coil surrounding a single pole piece which extends axially from the ring to the wire and is connected to the ring so that the magnetic circuit through the body of the ring and wire is completed.
