A procedure for the preparation of a stable and crystalline cephalosporin salt, of the formula: **(See formula)** where Ar represents a totally or partially unsaturated hydrocarbyl group, containing 6 carbon atoms and where X represents a lithium radical or a group of the formula: **(See formula)** where R1, R2 and R3 are the same or different and can represent individually: (a) hydrogen (b) C1-C6 alkyl (c) C3-10 cycloalkyl (d) C2-6 alkenyl (e) aralkyl (f) optionally substituted phenyl or (g) R1 and R2 together with the adjacent nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic ring of up to 5 carbon atoms, the procedure of which is to form a solution of said salt of formula (I) and cause the salt to precipitate from the solution.
