Abstract

Steel alloys which are designed for forging turbine blades should have a ferrite-free, martensitic microstructure and increased mechanical strength and toughness. The alloy described contains critical amounts of carbon, chromium and nickel. In the turbine blades forged from this alloy, the 0.02% proof stress is above 70 kg/mm<2> and the tensile strength is above 90 kg/mm<2>.
