Abstract

A servicing apparatus for a tire building machine comprising: A) belt support means for supporting at least one belt strap located adjacent to a rotating construction drum; B) belt guide means for applying a belt strap on the construction drum, said belt guide means having at least one belt guide roller to guide a belt strap from the belt support means on the drum construction in precision alignment relative to the circumferential centerline of the construction drum; C) first drive means for driving the belt guide roller at substantially the same peripheral speed as that of the construction drum during application of a belt strap on the construction drum; D) tread support means for supporting at least one tire tread located adjacent to the rotating construction drum; E) tread guide means for applying a tire tread to a tire part in the construction drum, said tread guide means having at least one tread guide roller to guide a tire tread from the tread support means on a tire portion on the construction drum in precision alignment relative to the circumferential center line of the construction drum; and F) second drive means for driving the tread guide roller at substantially the same peripheral speed as that of the construction drum during application of a tire tread.
