Abstract
A procedure for the preparation of new indenopyrrole derivatives of general formula **(See formula)** where R1 is a hydrogen atom or, a carbamoyl or dialkylcarbamoyl radical, a lower alkyl or alkenyl group, the groups of which may optionally be substituted with one or more substituted aryl, hydroxy, oxo or amino groups; R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, represent hydrogen atoms, straight or branched chain lower alkyl groups or an OR1 or O.CO.Alq group, where R1 has the meaning given above and Alq is alkyl; R4 and R5, which may be the same or different, represent hydrogen atoms or lower alkyl or phenyl groups; and R6 is a lower alkyl group and its non-toxic and pharmaceutically acceptable salts; whose process consists of the catalytic hydrogenation of a starting compound of the formula **(See formula)** where R2, R3, R5 and R6 have the meaning given above, with subsequent conversion, if desired, of the hydrogen atom of the imino group in another group R1 and of the groups R2 and R3 in other groups included within the given meaning; The compounds are isolated if desired in the form of non-toxic and pharmaceutically acceptable salts that can later be converted into another salt.
