Abstract

A tank of the swimming-pool type formed of rigid plastic material such as polyurethane foam and provided with a fluid-tight lining of small thickness is placed directly in contact with the soil within a pit which has been dug in the ground. The modulus of elasticity of the side wall and preferably of the bottom is close in value to that of the surrounding soil so as to result in a uniform stress distribution and a deformability which removes any danger of crack formation.
