Abstract
A process for the production of sintered metal articles, including the steps of selecting a pre-alloy powder having a composition within the range of 10-18% chromium, 2-6% iron, 2-6% silicon, 2-6% boron, 0.5-2% carbon, the rest (except impurities and/or trace elements) nickel, mix the pre-alloy powder with copper powder in an amount equal to between 20% and 50 % by weight of total pre-alloy and copper powder, preferably add a small percentage of an appropriate lubricant, compress the mixture to form a compressed body, and sinter the compressed body in the range of 1,050-1,100ºC for such a time that copper and nickel-rich pre-alloy dissolve only partially in each other and vice versa.
