Abstract
An imaging method, comprising: (a) providing an imaging member having at least two adjacent layers comprising a layer of non-oriented photoconductive material and a contiguous layer of an electrically active organic material disposed above the photoconductive layer, said photocunductive layer manifesting the capacity of generation and injection of photoexcited gaps, said active organic material being layers to maintain the injection of photoexcited gaps from said photoconductive layer and transporting the gaps through said active layer, in which said active layer it comprises at least one material chosen from the group consisting of, 2-phenylanthracene, and polymers thereof, 3-phenylindole, 5-phenylbenzo [b] furan, 2-phenylbenzo [b] furan, 3-phenylbenzo] b] furan, 3-phenylbenzo [b] thiophene, 2-phenylbenzo [b] thiophene, 1-phenylphenanthrene, 2-phenyltetracene, 1-phenylpyrene, 4-phenylpyrene, 1-phenylfluororanthene, 3-phenylcarbazole, and 4 -phenylcarbazole; (b) electrostatically charge the free surface of the active layer uniformly and negatively; followed by (c) exposing said layer, thus charged, to an activating radiation source for which the photoconductive layer is absorbent and for which the active layer is substantially transparent and non-absorbent, exposure taking place in the form of a pattern. of light and shadow optically projected onto said layer, so that the photoexcited gaps, which are generated by said photoconductive layer, are injected into and transported through said active layer in order to form a latent electrostatic image on the free surface of the active layer.
