Abstract
Improvements in circular knitting machines and, especially, in stocking machines to protect the control heels of needles and jacks in the presence of irregular elevation by means of a selectively operated latch cam (or similar), intended to determine a partial elevation of the heels in a corresponding row of heels, while the needles and, eventually, the jacks, partially raised by such a latch cam, are fully raised by a common cam that meets the heels of a row in a position subsequent to which the selection latch cams are located, in accordance with which the improvements in a machine such as the one described are characterized in that said cam, to complete the elevation, is configured in the initial part with a chamfer of surface inclined in the direction of movement of the heels and towards the cylinder, starting from a distance from the cylinder greater than the upper height of the highest heel and because said cam is movable, especially in a radial direction and because it is in the correct position for lifting the needles with elastic means or the like, while it is capable of retracting when a bead, which is not raised regularly and sufficiently by a latch cam, or the like, impinges on said inclined surface chamfer, thus acting in a centrifugal direction on the cam to separate it from the cylinder.
