Abstract

A friction material comprising ferrous particles in a matrix of a thermoset resin and/or natural or synthetic rubber is characterized in that at least part of the ferrous particles are in the form of fibres, e.g. steel wool. The compositions may also contain woodflour, graphite, coke, sulphur, black, cyanite, galena, zinc oxide, barium sulphate, whiting, lead, asbestos, orthophosphate, pumice stone, and magnesium oxide.
