Abstract

An explosive device, e.g. a detonator, which is resistant to electrostatic discharges comprises, a metal casing 1 containing an explosive charge 2 an electrically insulating closure plug 4 and fuse wires 5 for igniting the composition and a coating 9 of limited electrical conductivity formed from a lacquer and electrically conductive particles, the casing and at least one of the fuse wires being electrically connected via this layer which has an electrical resistance of 0À5 k# to 500 k# between the casing and fuse wire(s). The resistance between the wires 5 is also from 0À5 k# to 500 k#. The layer 9 contains graphite or aluminium, silver or copper powder.
