Abstract
A power transmission arrangement, for a rear transverse-engined bus, comprises an engine 1 and gear-box 4 arranged end on and with their axes parallel and with the output shaft 5 of the engine or a coupling 6 thereof in driving connection through a transfer drive or gearing 9 with the input shaft 4c of the gearbox whilst the output shaft 4b of the gear-box is at the end of the latter adjacent the engine 1 for connection by a right-angle or bevel drive 10 with a propeller shaft drive 11. The gear-box output shaft axis 4a is lower than the engine axis 1a and the engine output 5 is connected to the transfer gearing 9 either by a universally coupled shaft 7 if the transfer gearing 9 is at the opposite end of the gear-box or directly if the gear-box input and transfer gearing are at the adjacent end of the gear-box. The propeller shaft drive 11 may incorporate two shafts 11a, 11b to permit a low level floor 13.
