Abstract

A medium for flat or annular air filters, comprises a first layer of gauze 1 coated with synthetic fibres 2 an air gap 4 and a second layer 5 of filter paper. The pleats in layers 1 and 5 need not be of identical pitch, Fig. 9 (not shown). It is stated that the filters offer a lower resistance to air flow and take longer to clog than conventional filters, and that their efficiency is independent of the dust concentration see curves on Figs. 6-8 (not shown). Applications: air-conditioners, air compressors, and I.C. engines.
