Abstract
An apparatus for. the continuous crystallization of hazardous material such as UF 6 from the vapour phase comprises a vertical tower 1 having a cooling jacket 4, rotary spiral scraper 7 connected to a hub 3, liquid inlet and outlet pipes 2, and crystal-collecting chamber 25. The spiral scraper is heated to prevent crystallization thereon by means of an induction coil 26 around the tower. The tower is surmounted by a sealed housing 14 containing a rotor 9 of magnetic material which is connected to. the hub and is rotated therewith by rotation of a sleeve 11 of magnetic material outside the housing. The tower may be of Ni-Cu alloy.
