Abstract

Irregularly shaped articles are stacked on a pallet and have a plastics envelope heatshrunk around the stack and the edges of the pallet, to hold the articles firmly. The envelopes 14 formed by transversely sealing and severing a doubled web, are drawn over stacks and around the edges of the pallets. The covered stack is then conveyed on a slatted conveyer 16 through a gas-heated oven 18 to shrink the wrapper material at about 150- 200 C. for 1 minutes. The oven has selfclosing doors 22, a main blower 24 and additional blowers 26, the latter producing end air curtains to reduce heat loss.
