Abstract

Novel compounds of the Formula I wherein X represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy radical, y represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical, Z and Z1, the same or different, represent hydrogen atoms or C1- 4 alkyl radicals or together with the nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic radical which may contain other hetero-atoms, and n represents 1, 2, 3 or 4, and acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting an alcohol of the Formula II with an acid chloride of the Formula III. <FORM:1060005/C2/1> <FORM:1060005/C2/2> <FORM:1060005/C2/3> Carboxylic acid chlorides of the Formula III may be prepared by chlorination of the corresponding carboxylic acids which latter may be prepared by hydrolysis of the corresponding 4-cyano-4-(X-phenyl)-tetrahydropyrans. 4 - Cyano - 4 - (X - phenyl) tetrahydropyrans may be prepared by reacting the corresponding phenylacetonitriles with bis - (2 - chloroethyl) ether in the presence of sodamide.
