Abstract
In an electric cable comprising a plurality of helically twisted insulated conductors 1-4, each provided with a conductive core and -at least substantially sectorial shaped insulating cover, the insulated conductors are arranged with their radial faces convergent towards the axis of the cable so that their external arcuate faces together form an at least substantially cylindrical cable and means are provided on the covers so that the insulated conductors interlock together. The insulating cover of polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene can be of various sectorial shapes (Figs. 2-6, not shown) and the conductors are made of solid or multiple strands of copper or aluminium. The insulated conductors are twisted together and the channel provided in the centre of the cable can accommodate one or more conductors or cables. In another embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown), the insulating covers are formed with cavities so that they can be locked together by means of key members made of a hard synthetic insulating material. The individual cables can be separated by forcing a blunt metal blade between them or by cutting along lines such as 7-8.
