Abstract

Cement raw slurry is converted into raw meal suitable for burning in rotary kiln by mechanically reducing the water content of the slurry to form a cake, e.g. by means of a filter press, continuously feeding this cake to, and disintegrating it in, a stream of hot gas from the kiln to form particles, the majority of which are carried away in the gas stream, and subsequently separating the heated, dried particles from the gas stream and feeding them to the kiln. The particles not entrained by the gas may be either returned to the disintegrator or passed directly to the kiln. The disintegrator may be in the form of rotating rods or hammers. Figures (not shown) illustrate several flow schemes and disintegrators.
