Abstract

In a process for preparing a composite pigment comprising a primary pigment and a secondary pigment, said secondary pigment being or containing dolomite, in a first stage the pigments with or without colouring agents and fillers are placed together and mechanically dispersed in the presence of a dispersion medium and in a second stage the composite pigment is precipitated by means of a flocculating agent. The primary pigment may be titanium dioxide, and the secondary pigment a mixture of dolomite, calcium carbonate, kaolin and talc. The amount of primary pigment may be from 15 to 50%. The dispersion medium may be a sodium silicate solution.
