Abstract
Barra catódica destinada a asegurar la extracción de la corriente de una cuba para producir aluminio por electrólisis, según el procedimiento Hall-Héroult, empotrada en al menos una ranura abierta en la base de cada uno de los bloques carbonados que forman el cátodo de la cuba de electrólisis, caracterizada porque, con el fin de aumentar la superficie de contacto eléctrico entre la base de los bloques carbonados y la barra catódica, y reducir las infiltraciones de electrólito debajo del cátodo de la cuba, dicha barra catódica se prolonga por una placa metálica en contacto eléctrico con la base de los bloques carbonados sobre al menos 20% de la superficie total de esta base, estando constituida esta placa por una chapa metálica de un grosor al menos igual a 4 mm y, de preferencia, al menos igual a 10 mm, soldada a la barra catódica antes de la colocación del bloque carbonado en la cuba.
