Abstract

The door includes an outer skin 3 assembled to the vehicle on the assembly line, on which is mounted a lock 10 cooperating with a striker 11 fitted to the edge of the door opening in the body thereby allowing the outer skin 3 to be held in position during subsequent movement along the assembly line. An inner frame 14 on which a series of elements are mounted off the assembly line is subsequently secured to the outer skin. One of the elements is an aesthetic element 48 provided with a movable flap 50 giving access to other elements forming parts of the door and window operating mechanisms.
