Abstract

In a vice having jaws 2, 3 adjustment is provided for a guide base portion 9 carrying a nut 8 through which passes a screwthreaded spindle 5 for adjusting jaw 2 relatively to fixed jaw 3. The base portion 9 is fixed in adjusted position on the vice bottom 1 by a reciprocable locking member 13 having teeth 13.1 that engage rack teeth 12.1 on portion 9 when positioned in the selected location. The locking member 13 is advanced to and withdrawn from the portion 9 by a lever operated eccentric.
