DESCRIPTION

Drainage channel with support

The invention relates to a drainage channel, comprising:

- A lower tray with a lower surface and an outlet opening disposed on the lower surface;

- A support placed on the lower surface of the lower tray, support comprising a substantially U-shaped cross section with a lower surface and vertical walls along the lower surface.

Said drainage channel according to the preamble is known from memory DE 202006014745 and is known as elongated shower drain. The support placed in the lower tray in this case comprises a tile identical to the tiles surrounding the shower drain. With the exception of a series of narrow entry spaces, the shower drain is therefore hidden from view.

In known drainage channels, the support is usually manufactured from a thick stainless steel plate, which bends to form a U-shaped cross section tray. In this case, the upper edges of the tray are preferably finished so that sharp edges and inhomogeneities are avoided. Fasteners can also be arranged in the lower part of the support to keep the support at a distance from the lower surface of the lower tray. Water can thus flow along the sides of the support to the lower tray and then flow below the support to the outlet opening. Because different processes are required for such support, the costs are relatively high.

An objective of the invention is to provide a drain with support according to the preamble, in which manufacturing costs can be reduced.

This objective is achieved in accordance with a drainage channel according to claim 1.

You can continue to obtain a strong wall with a thin plate by double folding the plate. In addition, the double folding at the same time creates a finished edge on the upper side that is also pleasantly straight. The folded edge ensures a rounded upper edge of the support. Because a thinner plate can be used to fabricate the support, material costs are reduced and weight is also reduced. In addition, the support can be manufactured using only a single bending machine, and it is possible to dispense with welding operations and grinding operations.

The wall part directed downwards thus forms, simultaneously, a fastener or spacer, whereby the support is kept at a distance from the lower tray.

Possible fasteners under the support can also be hidden from view by the wall parts directed downwards.

An advantage in this case is that the lower edge of the downwardly directed wall part can easily be adapted to the slope usually present in the lower tray.

In another embodiment, at least one recess is disposed at the bottom edge of the wall part directed downwards. Because of this at least one recess, the water can more easily move under the support and flow into the outlet hole of the lower tray.

In a preferred embodiment of the drain channel, a wall part comprises a projection to hold the wall part at a distance. By providing a wall part with a projection, a required distance can be obtained, and the support can be centered, for example, on the lower tray or between a finishing layer of the tiles.

An object, such as a tile or a glass layer, can be placed in the support of the drain channel according to the invention.

In known shower drains it is possible to invert the support with tiles and place it in this position in the lower tray, so that the lower part of the support becomes visible. Because the lower part of the support is made of stainless steel, an attractive stainless steel band is visible.

However, the drawback of this known shower drain is that one of the two possible visible surfaces is located against the bottom drain tray and can be damaged. When people pass over the drain channel, the support will slide from side to side in the lower tray. Scratches can then occur on each contact surface between the support and the lower tray. In this way, after a period of time, the support can no longer be reversed because scratches on the surface are unacceptable.

This drawback of the known prior art is solved with another embodiment of the invention, which comprises a protective cover to cover the object placed in the support, the protective cover having an upper surface and an edge suspended along the edge of the upper surface. .

With the protective cover it is possible to choose to allow the protective cover or, after removing the protective cover, the object placed in the support, determine the appearance of the drainage channel. Now that it is no longer necessary to reverse the support, the risk of damage to one of the visible surfaces is avoided.

Furthermore, the use of a protective cover on the object placed in the support has the advantage that the protective cover itself does not have to act as a support when the protective cover is located against the upper surface of the object. In this way, the thickness of the protective cover material can be limited, which is also advantageous for the total height of the support.

Now that the cost of the support can be reduced with the invention, it can be advantageous to provide both a support and a grid in a packaging for a drain. This reduces storage for different variants of a product.

In a preferred embodiment of the drainage channel according to the invention, the suspended edge of the protective cover is coupled at least partially around the support. In this way, the upper edges of the support are hidden from view by the protective cover.

In another embodiment of the drainage channel according to the invention, the protective cover has a substantially U-shaped cross section.

In another embodiment of the drainage channel according to the invention, the lower tray has vertical walls along the edge of the lower surface.

In the drainage channel according to the invention, the lower tray can also be elongated, and a siphon is arranged in the outlet opening. Said elongated embodiment has the advantage that the shower drain can extend over the width of the shower floor, and that it is only necessary to provide slope in one direction on the floor.

In a very preferred embodiment of the drain according to the invention, the object placed in the support is a tile and the protective cover is made of stainless steel.

In another embodiment of the drain according to the invention, the object placed in the support comprises adjustment means for adjusting the height of the protective cover. Using the adjustment means it is possible to make the upper surface of the protective cover flush with the surface of the surrounding tiles.

According to the invention, the object may also be formed by a plastic band, such as polystyrene, to which a plate of a desired material is adhered, for example glass, stainless steel or wood. The plastic band imparts sufficient strength, while the adhered plate defines the appearance.

The adhered plate can optionally rest with its edges on the upper edges of the support. In this case, it is not necessary for the object to rest on the lower surface of the support, thereby providing space for water discharge. In addition, it is possible to provide, for example, LED lighting under the adhered plate.

Figure 1 shows a drain channel 1 according to the invention. This drain channel 1 has a lower tray 2 with a lower surface 5 and vertical walls 6. An outlet opening 7 to which a siphon 3 is connected is arranged on the lower surface 5. The siphon 3 is provided with an outlet 4 to which an outlet pipe can be connected.

Placed in the lower tray 2 there is a finishing frame 8 with which the sides of the adjacent tiles can be finished. This finishing frame 8 is optionally adjustable in height to thereby allow a variation of thickness in the tiles.

In addition, a support 9 is located in the lower tray 2. This support 9 is manufactured from a U-shaped profile. The U-shaped profile is oriented with the open side facing up. On the lower face are arranged fasteners 10 that keep the support 9 at a distance from the lower surface 5 of the lower tray 2. These fasteners 10 are folded out of the bottom wall of the support 9.

As will be apparent from Fig. 2, the vertical longitudinal edge of the support 9 folded double so that a strong and finished edge is created.

Optionally, fasteners 10 can also be arranged in a releasable and interchangeable manner, so that the height of the support 9 can be adjusted in the lower tray 2.

An object 14 is located in the support. This object 14 can be a tile, but also a moldable and cured material such as concrete or Corian.

Optionally, a protective cover 11 can be placed on the support 9 and the object 14. This protective cover 11 has an upper surface 12 and suspended side walls 13. In the embodiment shown, the protective cover 11 has a U-shaped cross section. .

Because the underlying object 14 and the support 9 have to be strong enough even without the protective cover 11, the wall thickness of the protective cover 11 can remain small. The advantage of this is that the material costs for the protective cover 11 remain limited.

Figure 3 shows a second embodiment 20 according to the invention. This embodiment 20 has a lower tray 21 with horizontal flanges 22.

There is a support 23 placed in the lower tray 21. The support 23 has a U-shaped cross section on which an adjustment foot 24 is arranged. This adjustment foot 24 has a support surface 25 on which the protective cover 26.

Using the adjustment foot 24, the height of the protective cover 26 can be adjusted so that it is flush with a surrounding tile floor. In this way, the drain channel 20 can be adapted to the thickness of the tiles 27.

In this embodiment, the side walls of the support 23 are reinforced and finished by double folding the edge inwards.

Figure 4 shows a support 30 of a third embodiment according to the invention. The support 30 is folded from a single plate in such a way that a bottom surface 31 with vertical walls 32, 33 is formed around the bottom surface 31. The longitudinal walls 32 fold over themselves to form side walls 34 directed towards down. These side walls 34 extend to a position below the bottom surface 31, such that the side walls 34 function as legs.

In addition, recesses 35 are disposed on the lower edge of the side walls 34, such that the water for discharge can flow under the support 30. The projections 36 formed from the downwardly directed wall part are also arranged in suitable positions on the side walls 34 to allow centering of the support 30.

Figure 5 shows a variant of the support 30 according to Figure 4. In this embodiment, the support 40 is also folded from a thin plate. The side walls 41 thus formed of the support 40 are directed vertically downwards.

In this embodiment, the support 40 is located on a flat plate 43. This flat plate 43 is provided with an outlet tube 44.

An object 45 such as a tile or a piece of glass may also be arranged in the support 40. Optionally, this object may be covered with a protective cover 46. An example 50 of a drain channel not according to the invention is shown in the Figures 6 and 7. This drain channel 50 has a bottom tray with a bottom surface 51 in which an outlet opening 52 is arranged. Vertical walls 53 with horizontal flanges 54 are arranged along the edge of the bottom surface 51 .

A support formed from a U-shaped profile 55 is disposed in the lower tray 51, 52, 53, 54. This U-shaped profile 55 has openings 56 because the wall portions 57 are bent outwards.

The U-shaped profiles 55 are located against the side walls 53 of the lower tray and therefore also cover the side part of the tiles 58.
