Abstract

Sistema electroquirúrgico que incluye un instrumento electroquirúrgico (12) y un generador electroquirúrgico (10), comprendiendo el instrumento electroquirúrgico por lo menos los electrodos primero, segundo y tercero (4, 6, 7) separados entre sí por el elemento aislante (5, 8; 36) entre ellos, teniendo el primer electrodo (4) una característica tal que está adaptada para constituir un electrodo activo, teniendo el segundo electrodo (6) una característica tal que está adaptado para constituir un primer electrodo de retorno, y teniendo el tercer electrodo (7) una característica tal que está adaptado para constituir un segundo electrodo de retorno, incluyendo el generador electroquirúrgico una fuente (60) de energía de radiofrecuencia capaz de producir una forma de onda de RF de coagulación o una forma de onda de RF de corte, y conexiones de salida primera, segunda y tercera (62A, 62B, 62C) conectadas al primer, segundo y tercer electrodo respectivamente del instrumento electroquirúrgico, comprendiendo además el generador un medio de conmutación (62) que tiene dichos electrodos primero, segundo y tercero (62A, 62B, 62C) como salidas, y un controlador (72), siendo el controlador tal que cuando se selecciona una forma de onda de RF de corte, el medio de conmutación dirige la forma de onda de RF de corte entre las primera y segunda conexiones de salida pero no la tercera conexión de salida, de tal manera que la forma de onda de corte de RF se suministra al primer y segundo electrodo (4, 6) pero no al tercer electrodo, y cuando se selecciona una forma de onda de RF de coagulación, el medio de conmutación dirige la forma de onda de RF de coagulación entre las primera y tercera conexiones de salida y, por lo tanto, al primer y tercer electrodo (4, 7).
