Un procedimiento para la preparación de una 17alfa-metil-19-nortestosterona substituida en posición 4de la fórmula general: **(Ver fórmula)** en la cual R representa H o un grupo acilo derivado de un ácido carboxílico alifáticocíclico o parcialmente cíclico que contenga a lo sumo 9 átomos de carbonoel cual procedimiento comprende el deshidratar en la posición 5 17alfa-metil-19-norandrostano-4517beta-triol-3-onaefectuándose dicha deshidratación en solución alcalina a temperatura ambiente.
