Abstract
Un método para preparar alquilfosfonato de diarilo, que comprende: combinar un triarilfosfito que está opcionalmente sustituido con trifluorometilo, nitro, ciano, alquilo C1-C20, arilo, haluro, alquil C1-C20 éter, éter bencílico, éter arílico, hidroxi, alcoxi, amino, alquilamino (-NHR1), o dialquilamino (- NR'R") y al menos un catalizador de haluro de alquilo de fórmula general R10-X (VII), en la que R10 es un alquilo C1-C20 y X es un haluro, para formar una mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito; calentar la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito a una temperatura de reacción definida de 210 ºC a 260 ºC; añadir a la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito calentada al menos un trialquilfosfito o al menos un alcanol; y hacer reaccionar la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito y el al menos un trialquilfosfito o al menos un alcanol para formar la alquilfosfonato de diarilo; en el que el trialquilfosfito o el alcanol es al menos del 10 % al 50 % de exceso molar del triarilfosfito.

Sin desear quedar ligando a la teoría, cuando se combina con el catalizador, el triarilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido puede reaccionar con el catalizador para formar la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito opcionalmente sustituida de tal forma que se no se produzca sustancialmente ninguna reacción de Arbuzov, y no se produce sustancialmente ninguna exotermia. Además, la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido puede aumentar sustancialmente el punto de ebullición del catalizador de tal forma que la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito opcionalmente sustituida puede calentarse a una temperatura superior a 40 ºC sin sustancialmente ninguna pérdida de actividad catalítica. Por lo tanto, la producción de alquilfosfonato de diarilo opcionalmente sustituido puede tener lugar a alta temperatura sin sustancialmente ninguna pérdida del catalizador debido a la vaporización del catalizador tal como puede ocurrir cuando el catalizador se añade con el trialquilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido o el alcanol opcionalmente sustituido o se añade individualmente mediante goteo en la reacción o bombeo desde debajo de la superficie de reacción.
En ciertas realizaciones, el alquilfosfonato de diarilo opcionalmente sustituido puede formarse inmediatamente tras la adición del trialquilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido o el alcanol opcionalmente sustituido a la mezcla catalítica de triarilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido calentado. En otras realizaciones, el calor generado por la reacción puede regularse por la velocidad a la que el trialquilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido o el alcanol opcionalmente sustituido se añaden a la mezcla catalítica de trialquilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido calentado. Por lo tanto, el trialquilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido o el alcanol opcionalmente sustituido pueden añadirse usando un método controlado, tal como, por ejemplo, goteo desde arriba o bombeo desde debajo de la superficie de la mezcla de reacción.
La temperatura de la reacción definida es al menos mayor que la mayor exotermia cuando los componentes se mezclan a temperatura ambiente y se calientan permitiendo que se produzca la reacción, y en ciertas realizaciones, la temperatura de reacción puede ser al menos superior a la temperatura de la mayor exotermia y por debajo de la temperatura a la que el alquilfosfonato de diarilo opcionalmente sustituido producido se degrada térmicamente. La temperatura de reacción es de 210 ºC a 260 ºC, y preferiblemente, la temperatura de reacción puede ser de 230 ºC a 260 ºC. Sin desear quedar ligando a la teoría, la gran exotermia no controlada observada, cuando los reactantes se combinan a temperatura ambiente y se calientan, puede eliminarse realizando la reacción a una temperatura al menos superior a la exotermia mayor y la volatilidad de la mezcla de reacción puede reducirse permitiendo que la reacción se produzca de forma más segura.
Los alquilfosfonatos de diarilo opcionalmente sustituidos preparados por cualquiera de los métodos que se han descrito anteriormente pueden estar sustancialmente libres de contaminantes, tales como, por ejemplo, triarilfosfito opcionalmente sustituido residual que puede permitir que los alquilfosfonatos de diarilo opcionalmente sustituidos preparados usando métodos de las realizaciones de la invención se usen en reacciones de condensación posteriores sin sustancialmente ninguna formación de subproductos tóxicos.
Los alquilfosfonatos de diarilo o alquilfosfonatos de diarilo opcionalmente sustituidos de las realizaciones pueden ser de fórmula general (I):

El tiempo de adición fue de 3 horas durante las cuales la reacción se mantuvo bajo control de 210 ºC a 260 ºC. Después de la adición, la temperatura de la mezcla de reacción se mantuvo a 240 ºC durante una hora más y después se enfrió a temperatura ambiente. Después, los productos se analizaron. El rendimiento en bruto fue de 3140 g.
10 No se detectó actividad exotérmica durante la reacción. La mezcla de trifenilfosfito y yodometano obtuvo un color rojo-púrpura intenso tras el calentamiento. Además tampoco pudo observarse reflujo de yodometano. Sin desear quedar ligando a la teoría, el trifenilfosfito y el yodometano pueden reaccionar para formar sal yoduro de trisfenoximetilfosfonio.
